Dundonald’s oldest joyrider and his girlfriend had a lucky escape today when the stolen car they were driving flipped onto its side.
Cecil Astra, 83, was dipping the clutch on a stolen Honda when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle.
The geriatric hood managed to crawl through the passenger side window with his girlfriend, Shelly-Anne Nova, 81, still trapped inside.
Astra told the PSNI he was unable to see over the waist band of his trousers and clipped a kerb which caused the vehicle to topple.
Officers believe that Cecil may have been under the influence of several substances including Viagra and Fisherman’s Friends.
Cecil broke into his first car (a Ford Anglia) in 1939 when he was just 6-years-old.
By the time he was 11 he’d been arrested fourteen times and was a father-of-two.
Astra and his girlfriend are members of a local gang who refer to themselves as the ‘Dunlady Hoods’.
The gang are residents at Dunlady Nursing Home but have been escaping from the facility after ‘lights out’ to engage in illegal street racing.
Terrorized locals claim they’ve witnessed the old hoods rampage about the streets on mobility scooters at speeds of up to 10mph.
There are videos on Astra’s YouTube account which show the gang in action and bragging about their antics.
In one clip, Cecil is stood beside a burnt out Rascal 388 deluxe mobility scooter shouting ‘Lock it or lose it ya ball-begs – yeoooo’.
